The chocolate bean, Theobroma Cacao - "The Food of the Gods" - was once used as currency throughout South America (back when money DID grow on trees).

But outside of the tropics, most people have only known the sugary buzz of processed cocoa and chocolate bars. The West didn't encounter RAW Cacao until 2003, when Essential Living Foods (one of our proud suppliers) developed RAW Cacao beans and nibs for import.

Today, RAW Cacao is everywhere, but much of it is either highly contaminated, not Organic, or NOT EVEN RAW!
